"Put Your Hands Up for Detroit" is the tech jam that exploded out of nowhere. Dutchman Fedde La Grande was surrounded everywhere he went during the Amsterdam Dance Event and we were barely able to pull him aside for 3 minutes. Being the first Dutch DJ to ever make number one the UK pop chart is just another step in the European domination of this season's Ibiza smash. With the super hot naughty nurses video creating quite a stir, could the US be next?

DJ Ron Slomowicz: So Fedde, you realize you have the big buzz track right now. How did it originate?
Fedde le Grand: Actually I was working on it for quite some time and I did like seven versions of it, but I still wasn't happy and satisfied. I threw it away and made some other stuff, then tried it again and threw it away still again. Then one day I was making coffee and I started humming the bassline and I thought, this is it. I ran upstairs, played it, and then I finished it in like three days.

RS: Why Detroit?
Fedde le Grand: House originated there. That's one of the most-asked questions but for me it's quite natural because the whole house groove originated from there so it's just a big up to the old days.

RS: It's being hyped as the Ibiza record of the season, how are you reacting to all this immediate success?
Fedde le Grand: Because I haven't been there this summer, its hard to imagine what's happening. I saw some movies on YouTube showing the crowd reaction when its played and was amazed. I get lots of messages everytime the track and video is played. So things started slowly and we started to realize how big it is or how big it's going to get. It's quite cool.

RS: What's next for you?
Fedde le Grand: Doing loads more stuff, just keep on doing actually what I always was doing. Now the good thing is you have a lot of more people who will notice you. Basically it's just getting myself out there. A lot of people ask me if I am going to do the same thing again but maybe a little different. I am not going to copy myself but explore new sounds. Maybe I will go in the industrial direction again but I just believe in making good music and making music as well as you can. That's what I stand for, so I'll just keep doing that. I'm currently working on the follow-up but first I have to do some remixes. The follow-up is going to be quite different, but I hope people like it.
