Lainie: Are you going to bring him down to Winter Music Conference and make your own resurrection here?
Clivilles: I don’t know, I don’t know yet, I think I’m a year away from that.

Lainie: Because now you’re on TV, and now everybody’s just like just come on down to conference, we’re going to see Robi-Rob.
Clivilles: I don’t know, I don’t know, I mean if I’m invited I’ll probably go but…

Lainie: I’m inviting you.
Clivilles: I think I’m a year away from going to the Winter conference.

Lainie: I’m inviting you, I’m saying it’s been too long, the kids need a new educations because, you know, there’s a lot of distortion out there….
Clivilles: There’s too much, I mean the distortion is beating the game.

Lainie: We have like, I think there’s something like seventy-five compilations that are just DJ compilations that are in like Virgin Mega Stores and Tower now, the compilation thing is the big thing. So, I mean…
Clivilles: Yes, it’s… There is always a big thing and the quickest way out.

Lainie: Exactly.
Clivilles: And that’s the problem, I mean…

Lainie: No, no problems.
Clivilles: No one’s paying for them and no one’s dedicating themselves to them, the record companies aren't giving budgets for our dance albums and people ain’t showing them why there should be budgets for dance albums, you know. I mean, I remember the days when I was poor and it really didn’t matte how much money I made, you know, it was all about damn, how hot can I make this record? Like how DOPE can I be? It was my way of souping my self up.

Lainie: And then you would play it at a club and see how they shake it and you’re like what.
Clivilles: And just, exactly, and just be, getting really souped up, you know what I mean? And it was all about that, you know, it was all about, like hip-hoppers when they’re young, you know, it’s about, learn how dope I can rhyme, say do a dance with me and it was a different thing, it was a different animal, it was more like, it was a big competition, like I wanted to be the best DJ in the world, you know, I wanted to be not only the best DJ, I wanted to be the best looking cat, you know, I just want to do it all around like, you know, I wanted to, I want to take it all the way. And you don’t really see that no more, you just don’t see that no more, and that’s kind of the depressing part.

Lainie: Have you ever thought about that…
Clivilles: You don’t see that glamour, you don’t see that, yes, I want to be dope, you don’t see that.

Lainie: Do you have a lot of, what are they called now? Diva DJS, they have these guys, they get paid, you know, five figures a night to DJ, mind you, they do well at what they do, but a lot of them are not, you know, they can’t play piano, they can’t, you know, they can’t program, they have a whole team behind them.
Clivilles: Teams are very important.

Lainie: They will insist on three first class tickets now and, you know, the best suite at the W. I remember why I used to get some DJs for a hundred bucks in a bottle of Jack, I don’t know what happened.
Clivilles: Well, I mean they grow older, they’ve got to pay the mortgage, you know, responsibilities come the older they get and, you know, you have to think of the timing one day.

Lainie: They’ve got DJ Daddies nowadays too, guys I never thought were going to be…
Clivilles: The problem is that they don’t work hard. You see, the hotels and the first class tickets are cool, but when you go do your show, ROCK THAT SHIT! Don’t go over there and just be the sixth one that played in your joints, you know, half mix them. I mean, you know, we used to mess around with four turntables, three turntables, accapellas, over groves and…

Lainie: And now they’ve got two turntables and turntables for the final scratch and iPOD.
Clivilles: Yes, you’re going to have a whole bunch of people that ain’t earning their money, and that’s the problem is people just ain’t earning it. There’s no problem being rewarded for doing a great job, because in every corporation of the world or every sort of business you get rewarded if you do good, then earn it. Don’t show up and get thirty Gs for four hours, first class hotels and be tired, you know, just play that tired ass music or that tired ass mix. And now work for those three hours you should be on four turntables and you should be killing it, you should be having those people in worship mode!
