Dave Seaman Interview - Interview with Dave Seaman
Brothers in Rhythm. MixMag. Stress Records... Dave Seaman's role in the evolution of modern dance music is as epic as one of the classic Brothers in Rhythm productions. With a catalog of over 20 mixed CD compilations, Dave also runs the credible independent dance label Audio Therapy. His latest Renaissance Masters Series set features intense tracks from Josh Gabriel, Wally Lopez, Sasha, and Underworld.

Digital Dog Interview - Interview with Digital Dog (aka Jack Rokka)
Those crazy Brits always have several pseudonyms. You may know Steve Cornish and Nick Mace as Digital Dog, Jack Rokka, or Elek-tro Junkies. Three different names and three different sounds. As Digital Dog, they've remixed the likes of Armand Van Helden, Cascada, and Ultra Nate with an electro edge. Locked in the studio and only occasionally leaving to DJ at their residencies, the two produce incredible dance music that sounds great in the club and on the radio.

Abel Interview - Interview with Abel
With the Cha-Cha running through his Latin blood, DJ Abel (full name Abel Aguilera) pumps the energy with his tribal house sets. A resident DJ for the Alegria events, his new mixed CD set Alegria Universo captures the spirit of world-renowned and often fifteen-hour marathon events. Not just one of the most in-demand DJs, Abel also works with Ralphi Rosario as the Rosabel team, responsible for remixes of all of clubland's finest divas - Donna Summer, Cher, and Amber – to name just a few.

Wideboys Interview - Interview with the Wideboys
Wideboys, the production/remix team of Jim Sullivan and Eddie Craig, have been pumping out garage and house tracks for more than 10 years. Originally meeting through a record store, the two have been darlings of the UK underground with releases on their label Garage Jams, using names like Atari Era and Medieval Hooligans while occasionally venturing out to work with the likes All Saints and Artful Dodger.

Judge Jules 2008 Interview - Interview with Judge Jules
He describes himself as "just a normal bloke, lucky enough to be living the dream," but looking at the discography and legacy of Judge Jules, there is so much more. Consistently ranking in the top 25 of the DJ poll for the past 10 years, Jules' radio shows and animated DJ sets are staples of the UK/European dance scene. Producing under the guises of Angelic, Hi-Gate, and VPL, he's had several major club records.

Gary Salzman Interview - Interview with Gary Salzman
The DJ/Producer is an artist. Dance Music on commercial radio. Dance Music as a business. Radical concepts to some – but these are ideas that Gary Salzman, of Big Management, holds as philosophy. You may have not heard of him, but how about Todd Terry, Ray Roc, Jason Nevins, SpeakerBox – these are just a few of the artists that Gary has nurtured and managed to become superstars in the dance music world.

Enur - Calabria Interview - Interview with Rune
Calabria, the sax-driven tropical island delight with ragga vocals that is storming US airwaves, initially was a huge Ibiza hit as an instrumental track. With multiple versions over the past few years, Danish producer/DJ Rune added a sassy ragga vocal from Natasja Saad for the new 2007/2008 version. You might also know Rune as part of the group Artificial Funk, with his brother Johannes Torpe, who released the club hits "Together" and "Friend for the Weekend."

Armin Van Buuren - Universal Religion 2008 Interview
Launching the year with the release of the live-mixed CD Universal Religion 2008, Armin Van Buuren is busy balancing a rigorous touring schedule with production of an artist album. Add to that his weekly "A State of Trance" radio show and tastemaking Armada record label, its easy to see why his fans gave him the ultimate compliment – voting him #1 on the annual DJ magazine list.

Calvin Harris Interview - Interview with Calvin Harris
Spawning two top 10 singles in the UK ("Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls"), "I Created Disco" by Calvin Harris is probably my favorite party album of 2007. Put the CD into your player and every song will lift the vibe of any event. The title of the CD has little to do with its contents (a fusion of electro, 80s new wave and power pop) nor the ego of the artist (probably one of the nicest, most down to earth musicians out there).

We mourn the passing of Ernest “ESP” Sonny Padillo
It is with a very heavy heart and deep sadness that I write about the passing of Ernest “ESP” Sonny Padillo. Sonny was suffering from ill health for the last year or so with numerous hospital stays but in the end he passed quietly at home in his own bed of heart failure.

Mason Interview - Interview with Mason
It's a dirty dance music industry secret, but when you see a DJ's name on a record, many times he wasn't really involved with producing the record. With a Mason record, that is certainly not the case. Born Iason Chronis, Mason is a trained musician who started as a violinist and grew to incorporate his violin playing with DJ sets. Championed by fellow Dutchman Tiesto, Mason's career was in a steady ascent.

Granite & Phunk Interview - Interview with Granite & Phunk
Two DJ/producers from Texas setting the world ablaze, Granite & Phunk have been embraced by many of the biggest DJs out there (Judge Jules, Pete Tong, Fedde Le Grand). The team of Larry Granite and John Phunk first appeared on people's radars with their track "Knock U Over" which was released on Mark Knight's Toolroom Records label. With several big remixes and productions in the pipeline and an artist album scheduled for 2008, look for Granite & Phunk to be popping up on everybody's setlists.

Addictive TV Interview
Dance music is always at the forefront of embracing technology, and leading the charge of VJing is the Addictive TV team. To call them VJs is an understatement, the four person crew constructs (and deconstructs) audio and video mashups and original productions to use in their live performances around the world. Word has gotten about them and Hollywood has come calling with remix work on major films like Snakes on A Plane and Take the Lead.

Oscar G - Nervous Nitelife Interview
Oscar Gaetan (known as Oscar G) along with Ralph Falcon makes up the legendary production duo known as the Murk Boys (aka Liberty City, Funky Green Dogs, and Deep South). A pioneer of the Miami house sound, Oscar G is the resident of the internationally-respected Space super club. Capturing the energy and vibe of a night at Space is quite a challenge, yet with the new Nervous Nitelife CD/DVD release, Oscar has done just that.

Dave Aude Interview
Dave Aude is one of the busiest guys in the electronic music world. Recently achieving his first number one single as an artist, he has also had 25 number ones as a remixer. Working with everyone from the Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, and Nelly Furtado to the Gorillaz, Tall Paul, and DJ Dan, his music can be heard in clubs and on the radio around the world.

Trentemoller Interview - Interview with Trentemoller
With aggressive electro tracks like "Physical Fraction" and "Rykketid," Trentemoller established himself as the preeminent Danish electronic musician on the global dance music scene. His debut artist album, "The Last Resort," surprised many with its lush melodic instrumentals forming an almost soundtrack of ambience and dub. For a good introduction to his vast catalog of music, check out "The Trentemoller Chronicles," a 2CD set combining his rarest releases and biggest remixes (Royksopp, Moby).[p]

Chris Lake Interview
Although a relatively young producer, Chris Lake exploded to international acclaim with the success of the mega club hit "Changes." Setting up his own label, Rising Music, has led to a string of more club hits including "Fantasy" and "One Too Many," and even an offshoot label Rising Trax that's gaining buzz with the release of underground tracks from Micky Slim and Sebastian Leger. With remixes of pop icons like Robbie Williams and Dannii Minogue, Chris has built a truly international.

Lenny B Interview - Interview with Lenny B
Longevity in the dance music world is a rarity. 2007 marks the 15th anniversary of Juliet Roberts' "Free Love," which was Lenny Bertoldo's first remix. Known to everyone as Lenny B, he has remixed everyone from Fall Out Boy and Jewel to Britney Spears and Ace of Base. A trained musican, Lenny is one of the few remixers capable of music productions without the need to rely on engineers or programmers to help out.

Dimitri From Paris Interview - Interview with Dimitri From Paris
You don't often hear about fashionable titled DJs do you? Dimitri From Paris was one of the first Electronic artists to be awarded by the French Government the title "Knight of the Arts and Letters." With his work with fashion houses and remixes of everyone from Quincy Jones to Bjork, Dimitri was part of the first wave of French house DJs/Producers to break out on the international scene. Dimitri's artist albums and mixed compilations have built him an eccentric following throughout the world.

Mark Knight - Toolroom Knights Interview
How often have you seen MK & MTV on the playlists of the hottest DJs over the past few years? The team of Mark Knight and Martijn ten Velden is responsible for some of the hottest original tracks ("Insatiable," "A New Reality") and remixes (Shapeshifters, Joey Negro, Natasha Bedingfield). Toolroom Records, which was originally launched to support Mark Knight's productions, has morphed into Toolroom Knights, themed events, and a compilation series.

X-Press 2 - Makeshift Feelgood Interview
X-Press 2, the trio of Rocky, Diesel, and Ashley Beedle, began in the underground with club anthems like "AC/DC," "The Sound," "Music X-Press," and, of course "London X-Press." Joining forces with Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, the crew unleashed "Lazy," a massive chart-topping smash that brought them to pop crossover land in 2002. With influences from the 60s, 70, 80s, and outer space, Makeshift Feelgood is a rare commodity from the world of dance music – a true artist album.[p]

Wayne G Interview
From "Twisted" hard house to "Heaven"-ly Hi-NRG, Wayne G's production and DJ career has certainly been diverse. Starting in the mid 90s, Wayne was part of the nu-NRG scene championed by contemporaries Tony de Vit, Mrs. Wood, and Blu Peter. A satirical track featuring the voice of Stewart Who, "Twisted," launched Wayne into stratosphere making him one of the most in-demand DJs internationally with major success in Australia and the US (thanks to a Danny Tenaglia remix).

Francis Preve Interview
Making the move from writing to DJing and producing may seem like an odd transition, but when you consider the career arcs of Dave Dresden, Bill Coleman, and Joe Bermudez, it starts to make more sense. As contributing editor for Keyboard magazine and writer of three books, Francis Preve covers the latest technologies. As a sound designer for Korg and Ableton, he creates the sounds that other producers use. As a producer, he has worked with circuit Roland Belmares and commercial Joe Bermudez.
