Abel Interview - Interview with Abel
With the Cha-Cha running through his Latin blood, DJ Abel (full name Abel Aguilera) pumps the energy with his tribal house sets. A resident DJ for the Alegria events, his new mixed CD set Alegria Universo captures the spirit of world-renowned and often fifteen-hour marathon events. Not just one of the most in-demand DJs, Abel also works with Ralphi Rosario as the Rosabel team, responsible for remixes of all of clubland's finest divas - Donna Summer, Cher, and Amber – to name just a few.[p
Above and Beyond Interview
Above and Beyond, the trio of Jonathan Grant, Tony McGuinness, and
Paavo Siljamäki, do everything you can imagine in the electronic music
world – produce, write, remix, DJ, and run a music label. With their
artist album TriState and AnjunaBeats label compilations as well as
relentless touring, they have built a huge fan following resulting in
achieving both Radio One Essential Mix of the Year and top 10 on the
infamous DJ list.
Addictive TV Interview
Dance music is always at the forefront of embracing technology, and
leading the charge of VJing is the Addictive TV team. To call them
VJs is an understatement, the four person crew constructs (and
deconstructs) audio and video mashups and original productions to use
in their live performances around the world. Word has gotten about
them and Hollywood has come calling with remix work on major films
like Snakes on A Plane and Take the Lead.
Agostino Carollo Interview (Spankox, Eyes Cream)
A couple of years ago I went to Atlanta for a radio show which
featured several live performers – one of which was Ago, who were
touring on their hit "Tell Me Where You Are." The version was
electric and then when the bridge came – the song suddenly turned into
Spankox "To The Club." A minute later Eyes Cream's "Fly Away" chorus
was being layered on top as well. I was more than a bit confused so I
asked the performer who he was and he introduced himself as Agostino
Carollo.
AK 1200 Interview - Planet of the Drums Tour
In its eighth year, the Planet of the Drums unites AK1200, Dara,
Dieselboy, and MC Messinian in their mission to bring quality drum and bass music to the people. The summer tour of over thirty US cities proves that D&B is a powerful musical force and should not be
relegated to the backroom. The crew plays a variety of D&B from jump up and rolling to dark – bringing out the newest underground tracks along with the most loved anthems.
Alyson Calanga
Some say that the circuit scene is a man's world, but if you are dancing and sweating to wonderful tribal sounds and look up to the DJ booth, you might see Alyson Calagna banging the beats. With two mixed CDs and original productions under the name Housekeeperz with partner Barry Huffine, Alyson is touring the country spreading her love of music wherever she goes.
Armand Van Helden - GhettoBlaster Interview
While dance radio and clubs are full of eighties covers and remixes,
Armand Van Helden has taken a different direction with his
GhettoBlaster album. Rather than remixing the eighties, he has made
tracks that sound like they are straight from the eighties, keeping
the authentic sounds of legendary producers like Arthur Baker, Stock
Aiken Waterman, and Jellybean intact. If you are fan of late 80s
dance music, be sure to check out what's playing on Armand's
Ghettoblaster.

Armin Van Buuren - Universal Religion 2008 Interview
Launching the year with the release of the live-mixed CD Universal
Religion 2008, Armin Van Buuren is busy balancing a rigorous touring
schedule with production of an artist album. Add to that his weekly
"A State of Trance" radio show and tastemaking Armada record label,
its easy to see why his fans gave him the ultimate compliment – voting
him #1 on the annual DJ magazine list.
Armin Van Buuren
Ranked the #5 DJ in the world by the infamous DJ Magazine poll, Armin Van Buuren is touring the US to promote his new album "76." The album is completely self-produced with guest vocals from Ray Wilson (Genesis), Justine Suissa, Victoria Horn and rock band Krezip. Armin talks proudly of his studio work, radio shows and marathon DJ sets in his efforts to bring trance music to the people.
ATB - Trilogy Interview
Andre Tanneberger might be best known for his earliest hits "9pm (Til
I Come)" and "Don't Stop" yet on his newest CD set, Trilogy – he
splits his tracks between dance and ambient. Trilogy is the
completion of his triumvirate of trance albums (with Addicted to Music
and No Silence being the first two parts). Showcasing live instruments
and a multitude of vocalists, the music has a mature feel that could
attract a whole new audience to his style of trance music.
ATB
Andre Tanneberger might be best known for his earliest hits "9pm (Til I Come)" and "Don't Stop" but his fourthth CD "Addicted to Music" showcases a musical progression that could attract a whole new audience to his style of trance music. Known as ATB, he has been touring the world in support of his albums and bringing his music to the people.
Bad Boy Bill
Superstar Chicago DJ Bad Boy Bill invaded Nashville recently with his banging peak hour style of floor-filling music. Before coming in, he chatted with our own DJ B about his international travels, mixed CDs and original tracks.
Ben Watt Interview
Artist turned DJ - it almost sounds cliched, doesn't it? In the case of Ben Watt, the transition from Everything But the Girl to Buzzin' Fly is more of a logical artistic growth. The recent release of Buzzin' Fly Volume 3 is a testament to the music that Ben Watt continues to produces and find for the househeads of the world.
Benny Benassi - 2006 Interview
Benny Benassi - 2006 Interview
Benny Benassi
"Push Me/ and Then Just Touch Me/ Til I Can Get My/ Satisfaction" are the words heard in clubs around the world in the smash hit "Satisfaction" by Benny Benassi. Coming from Reggio Emilia in Italy, Benny works with his cousin Alle as part of the Off Limits team organized by Larry Pignagnoli. Influenced by 80s electronica, Benny calls his unique style of dirty electrohouse "hypnotech."
Bimbo Jones Interview
One such opportunity led to me swapping words with the wonderful
members of the band Bimbo Jones. Marc JB and Lee Dagger make up the
remixing team that has brought us countless #1 club and radio hits
across continents. Katherine Ellis, a vocalist of supreme talent,
rounds out the performing group, winning over Europe with their funky
track "Harlem 1 Stop" and stomping through American clubs with the
disco-fantastic "And I Try."
BK
BK is one the UK’s leading DJs and producers of hard house music responsible for tracks including “Hoovers and Horns,” “Music is Moving,” and “Revolution."
Bob Sinclar Interview
With back-to-back Winter Music Conference smash records "Love
Generation" and "World Hold On," French house maestro Bob Sinclar has
launched the incredible album Western Dreams. Touring the world
playing to massive crowds, Bob explores new inspirations and produces
new music just about every day. With the ragga-flavored and C&C Music
Factory-sampling "Rock This Party," it's obvious that you can find
inspiration for great dance music just about anywhere.
Calvin Harris Interview - Interview with Calvin Harris
Spawning two top 10 singles in the UK ("Acceptable in the 80s" and
"The Girls"), "I Created Disco" by Calvin Harris is probably my
favorite party album of 2007. Put the CD into your player and every
song will lift the vibe of any event. The title of the CD has little
to do with its contents (a fusion of electro, 80s new wave and power
pop) nor the ego of the artist (probably one of the nicest, most down
to earth musicians out there).
Cedric Gervais Interview
Space resident and leading man in Miami Cedric Gervais is rocking
dance floors around the world and turning out club-pounding tracks
with the likes of Second Sun and Sharam. With a new artist album
released on Ultra Records and various other compilations and single
releases on the way, Cedric is a man on the move. Recently, Cedric
had a few minutes to sit down with me at the Bang! Music festival in
Miami and let me ask him a few questions.
Chris Brophy Interview
Most of the times when you answer an online ad, you aren't looking for production work, but it was through one that British producer Chris Brophy connected with the US dance label Cetacean Records where he has added his production sound to club hits by Georgie Porgie and Pepper Mashay, among many others. With a debut album planned for release in the new year, watch out for his sound to infect clubs worldwide.

Chris Fortier Interview
With As Long As This Moment Exists, Chris Fortier makes his debut artist
album, which is quite extraordinary considering his many
accomplishments. One of the original DJs on the legendary Orlando
progressive dance music scene of the early 80s/late 90s, Chris ran the
influential Balance record pool and was half of the Fade record label
and production team.
Chris Lake Interview
Although a relatively young producer, Chris Lake exploded to
international acclaim with the success of the mega club hit "Changes."
Setting up his own label, Rising Music, has led to a string of more
club hits including "Fantasy" and "One Too Many," and even an offshoot
label Rising Trax that's gaining buzz with the release of underground
tracks from Micky Slim and Sebastian Leger. With remixes of pop icons
like Robbie Williams and Dannii Minogue, Chris has built a truly
international.

D:Fuse and Hiratzka - Skyline Lounge Interview
To call D:Fuse and Mike Hiratzka ambitious is an understatement.
Releasing "Skyline Lounge," a genre-bending self-penned album fusing
electronic and live instrumentation with vocalists including Kristy
Thirsk, DJ Rap, and MC Flint is quite a gamble. But launching a new
digital-only label Lost Angeles Recordings as the platform might just
be their first step to world domination.
Danny Howells - Dig Deeper Interview with Danny Howells
Frustrated with the cookie-cutter two-hour sets that he is often
forced to play at bigger clubs, Danny Howells revolted and created his
own party – Dig Deeper – as a venue for him to explore longer sets.
With the stamina to do up to 12-hour sets, Danny will be bringing Dig
Deeper party back to South Beach for Winter Music Conference this
year. Known for his mixed CDs as well as productions, Danny is planning new productions and a new mixed CD this summer.
Darude
Did you know that "Sandstorm" is the most successful instrumental record of all time? Did you know that it was the world's best selling 12" vinyl of 2000? Did you know that Darude and JS-16 are two seperate people? Did you know that Darude has a new album called "Rush" in stores now? Did you know that "Music" has already top the club charts all over Europe?
Dave Aude Interview
Dave Aude is one of the busiest guys in the electronic music world.
Recently achieving his first number one single as an artist, he has
also had 25 number ones as a remixer. Working with everyone from the
Pussycat Dolls, Beyonce, and Nelly Furtado to the Gorillaz, Tall Paul,
and DJ Dan, his music can be heard in clubs and on the radio around
the world.
Dave Dresden Interview - Gabriel and Dresden 2008 Interview
As a team, Gabriel & Dresden have worked together for seven years
producing, remixing, and DJing. Their list of accomplishments is
quite impressive - producing the international club smash Motorcycle
"As the Rush Comes," remixing the works of Paul Oakenfold, Way Out
West, Madonna, and Tiesto, achieving #20 on the DJ
Magazine list, and winning the International Dance Music Awards for
Best DJ two years in a row. After WMC this year, the two have decided
to take a break and work on solo projects.
Dave Seaman Interview - Interview with Dave Seaman
Brothers in Rhythm. MixMag. Stress Records... Dave Seaman's role in
the evolution of modern dance music is as epic as one of the classic
Brothers in Rhythm productions. With a catalog of over 20 mixed CD
compilations, Dave also runs the credible independent dance label
Audio Therapy. His latest Renaissance Masters Series set features
intense tracks from Josh Gabriel, Wally Lopez, Sasha, and Underworld.
David Guetta Interview - Interview with David Guetta
Walking by the Cameo on Saturday night during WMC, it's easy to see
that F*** Me I'm Famous was a major event of the week. Throngs of
people were huddled for blocks on both sides of the street as the fire
marshals controlled entry to the club where David Guetta rocked the
decks. The response is typical of the warm reception David has
received on his first US tour preparing for the Ultra release of
"GuettaBlaster," buoyed by the singles "Love Don't Let Me Go," The
World Is Mine," and "Stay."

Dennis Ferrer Interview
"The World As I See It" is an apt name for the new album from deep
house producer Dennis Ferrer. With several hit underground club
singles like "Son of Raw," "Underground is My Home," and "Church
Lady," the album represents Dennis' singular vision and sound with a
variety of musical influences – deep house, techno, and afro-rhythms.
If you are a fan of his remixes of Fish Go Deep "Cure and the Cause,"
Martin Solveig "Jealousy," and Blaze
featuring Barbara Tucker "Most Precious Love," ..
Diddy Interview - Interview with the Real Diddy
This interview is with the real Diddy. Not the hip-hop guy, Sean
Puffy Combs who changes his name every year or so, but the brilliant
Hi-NRG producer/DJ who made "Give Me Love" and did all those
incredible Blondie remixes. A tragic accident in 2001 slowed him down
for a little while, but he is back on his feet with a successful club
Megawoof, a new record label, and several new productions.
Dieselboy Interview
Drum and bass master Dieselboy came through Nashville for Halloween,
and we got a chance to talk to him while in transit. Though everyone
is now preparing for the winter holidays of joy and frivolity, we
thought it was a good time to explore drum and bass as a good
counterbalance. Talking to Dieselboy, you'll discover that drum&bass
not all about the dark intense sounds, there are also jump-up tracks
that rock the party and liquid sounds to groove to.

Digital Dog Interview - Interview with Digital Dog (aka Jack Rokka)
Those crazy Brits always have several pseudonyms. You may know Steve
Cornish and Nick Mace as Digital Dog, Jack Rokka, or Elek-tro Junkies.
Three different names and three different sounds. As Digital Dog,
they've remixed the likes of Armand Van Helden, Cascada, and Ultra
Nate with an electro edge. Locked in the studio and only occasionally leaving to DJ at their residencies, the two produce incredible dance
music that sounds great in the club and on the radio.
Dimitri From Paris Interview - Interview with Dimitri From Paris
You don't often hear about fashionable titled DJs do you? Dimitri
From Paris was one of the first Electronic artists to be awarded by
the French Government the title "Knight of the Arts and Letters."
With his work with fashion houses and remixes of everyone from Quincy
Jones to Bjork, Dimitri was part of the first wave of French...
Disco Brothers
With a name like the Disco Brothers you might be surprised that they don't play disco, sort of like DJ Rap who doesn't play rap, but the Disco Brothers are being tipped as being the next big thing for 2004 with their unmistakable DJ sets and energetic productions combining techno, trance and breakbeat.
DJ Escape
Growing up listening to Hip Hop in Queens, New York, Jeff Jonas (aka D.J. Escape) was converted to dance music after a night out at the Palladium dancing to Junior Vasquez. After years of working the club scene and with six mixed CDs released and a multitude of remixes, DJ Escape is one of the circuit's most in-demand DJs.
DJ Irene
DJ Irene is one of the world's most in-demand DJs, playing different clubs around the world every weekend with her own definitive style and releasing mixed CDs that have made her one of the biggest selling DJs ever.
DJ Rap Interview
DJ Rap is the number one female DJ in the world, but I would venture
to call her the number one DJ in the world for her sheer versatility
and amazing talent. Who else can release a genre-defying artist album
(Learning Curve) followed by mixed CDs spanning multiple genres
(Touching Bass, Armani Exchange Chemistry, Brave New World) while
touring the world to maddening crowds. Rap's fabulous new mixed CD
"Bulletproof" is full-on drum and bass combining original tracks,
remixes and other favorites.
DJ Rap
DJ Rap, the undisputed queen of the hardcore and drum and bass scene, is pushing boundaries working with producers from all genres and playing unique shows like the Playstation Tour and Chicks with Decks. Before focusing on her next album to follow up the landmark Learning Curve, she is playing a few more gigs and talks with DJ B about her career and the future of electronic music.
DJ Wendy Hunt
After 28 years of spinning, DJ Wendy Hunt is announcing a semiretirement. As one of the first female discjockeys, she has a blazed a musical trail that many have followed. From the predisco days and radio mixshows to circuit parties and Provincetown, read about Wendy's DJ experiences from her very candid perspective.
Domu Interview
Dominic "Domu" Stanton began his career making "underground" music during the U.K.'s drum-n-bass heyday in the early 1990s. Since then, he has developed into one of the masters of broken beat music, creating some of the heaviest tracks to hit the Co-Op floor. Not to be etched into one musical style, Domu's rhythms are one minute deep techy head-nodders or upbeat dancefloor stormers, and the next, straight-up soul and hip-hop.
Don Diablo - 2008 Interview - Signs Global 360 Deal With Sony/BMG
Is Don Diablo the next Tiesto? With the ink drying on a new global
SonyBMG 360 deal which provides artistic freedom and the structure to
break him internationally, the Dutch triple threat might just be the
next Dutch dance superstar. Following a lineage that includes Tiesto,
Armin Van Buuren, Fedde Le Grand, and Ferry Corsten, it's clear that
the Netherlands breeds talent unlike anywhere else.
Don Diablo Interview
If you’re looking for the next superstar international DJ, the Netherlands are a good place to look. Home to Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and Fedde Le Grand – Don Diablo managed to beat all three in the recent GKA awards, the Oscars of the Dutch Dance Scene, where he won the title of Most Popular DJ, as voted by the fans. His artist album is set for international release featuring tracks that he produced, mixed and performed himself.
Dubfire (of Deep Dish) Interview
We caught up with Ali, aka Dubfire, of Deep Dish at the Mynt Ultra Lounge in Miami during WMC where he was promoting the release of his new Global Underground 31 Taipei mixed CD. Ali is best-known for his grammy award-winning work with Deep Dish, yet 2007 sees him hitting the solo trail with a DJ tour, number one remix (Robbie Rivera "Float Away"), record label and productions.
Dynamix - Eddie Cumana
Dynamix, the inhouse production/remixer team of Kult Records, continues their string of clubland hits with “Bodyfly” which is a current favorite of Junior Vasquez. Following “No Man Can Tame Me,” “Never Get Me,” and “Don’t Want Another Man,” with remixes of Toni Braxton and Tamia, the team of Eddie Cumana and Beppe Savoni are currently working on an album project.
Enur - Calabria Interview - Interview with Rune
Calabria, the sax-driven tropical island delight with ragga vocals
that is storming US airwaves, initially was a huge Ibiza hit as an
instrumental track. With multiple versions over the past few years,
Danish producer/DJ Rune added a sassy ragga vocal from Natasja Saad
for the new 2007/2008 version. You might also know Rune as part of the
group Artificial Funk, with his brother Johannes Torpe, who released
the club hits "Together" and "Friend for the Weekend."
Fedde Le Grand - 2007 Interview
"Put Your Hands Up for Detroit" is the tech jam that exploded out of
nowhere, and Dutchman Fedde La Grande has been touring solidly since
its release. By no means a one-hit wonder, the follow-up track "The
Creeps" was a major top 10 hit all over Europe. Add in some remixes
of major club records by Erick E and Mr. V, as well as a remix of pop
superstar Robbie Williams, it looks like Fedde is going to be around
for a while. Working on his debut artist album while on tour, could
Fedde be the

Fenomenon Interview
Following the release of two EPs on the Nuphonic label, Norway's Fenomenon emerge with their latest long-player, "Hourglass." This project brims with 80s overtones and intelligent synth work. Fenomenon consists of Kjetil "Kay" Ingebretsen and Havard "Hobie" Rosenberg, two talented producers striving to put Stavanger, Norway on the map of modern electronic music. Emmerald recently spoke with Kay about the "Hourglass" project and Fenomenon's upcoming plans.
Ferry Corsten Interview
Ferry Corsten closed the Progressive / Trance lineup at the first South American Music Conference. His appearances in recent months in Buenos Aires have created quite a following, and the 7,000 people that packed into the arena were left with no doubt that the Dutchman will return. Ryan Gawn spoke to Ferry about the conference and his experiences in South America
Ferry Corsten Interview
There's more to the life of a superstar DJ than traveling the globe
via first class planes and bedding supermodels; the truly dedicated
ones go to the grassroots and actually experience the places they
perform. With his new CD/DVD set Passport USA, Ferry Corsten gives you
a firsthand view of his recent US bus tour with a slamming set of
music he played and film coverage of life on the road. In addition to
going from Punk to Junk, he's also gone high style with his own
fashion line.
Francis Preve Interview
Making the move from writing to DJing and producing may seem like an
odd transition, but when you consider the career arcs of Dave Dresden,
Bill Coleman, and Joe Bermudez, it starts to make more sense. As
contributing editor for Keyboard magazine and writer of three books,
Francis Preve covers the latest technologies. As a sound designer for
Korg and Abelton, he creates the sounds that other producers use. As
a producer, he has worked with circuit Roland Belmares and
commercial Joe Bermudez.
Frankie Knuckles Interview
Godfather of House Frankie Knuckles doesn't really need an introduction. His nights spinning at The Warehouse in Chicago during the late 70s and early 80s is where the term "house music" came from. Recipient of the first Grammy for remixer of the year, he has worked on just about every important soulful vocalist in the past 20 years - Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, Michael Jackson, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Cole, Chaka Khan, Luther Vandross, and Patti LaBelle just to name a few.
Freemasons Interview
The hottest producers on the club scene, the Freemasons (the team of
Russell Small & James Wiltshire) have spent the past two years topping
the UK and US club chart with their productions ("Love on My Mind,"
"Watchin," "Rain Down Love") and remixes (Beyonce "Déjà vu," Faith Evans "Mesmerized,"). With the release of Shakedown,
a genre-defying 2-CD set of over 28 productions and remixes, the
Freemasons compile their best work for mass consumption and insane
partying.
Funkerman Interview - Interview with Funkerman (Speed Up)
Funny story here. At Amsterdam Dance Event 2007, the person I was
most excited to meet was Funkerman. His song "Speed Up" totally
inspired me to change everything that I do as a DJ. Yes, the song is
about getting a girl into bed with you, but there is one line which
goes "baby, step up your game," and that one line floated through my
head during all of 2007. Upon meeting Funkerman backstage at last
years massively successful Flaming Records party at the Melkweg, I
burst into the story.
Gabriel and Dresden 2008 Interview
As a team, Gabriel & Dresden have worked together for seven years
producing, remixing, and DJing. Their list of accomplishments is
quite impressive - producing the international club smash Motorcycle
"As the Rush Comes," remixing the works of Paul Oakenfold, Way Out
West, Madonna, and Tiesto, achieving #20 on the DJ
Magazine list, and winning the International Dance Music Awards for
Best DJ two years in a row. After WMC this year, the two have decided
to take a break and work on solo projects.
Gabriel and Dresden
Once you get to remix Madonna, everything changes. After snagging their seventh #1 Billboard Dance Chart Hit and as their own group Motorcycle (with vocalist Jes) is conquering the world with their track "As The Rush Comes In," 2004 looks to be another year in which Gabriel and Dresden's presence at the forefront of dance production and remixing will continue to increase.
Gary Salzman Interview - Interview with Gary Salzman
The DJ/Producer is an artist. Dance Music on commercial radio. Dance
Music as a business. Radical concepts to some – but these are ideas
that Gary Salzman, of Big Management, holds as philosophy. You may
have not heard of him, but how about Todd Terry, Ray Roc, Jason
Nevins, SpeakerBox – these are just a few of the artists that Gary has
nurtured and managed to become superstars in the dance music world.
Gavin Hardkiss Interview
Since 1990 Gavin Hardkiss has been one of the biggest players in the
American dance music industry. Alongside his siblings Robbie and Scott,
Gavin has served as a label-boss, performance act and Disc Jockey;
promoter and a key industry figure. Any devoted fan of house music has been
following his career while increasingly seeing his name appearing in
tracklistings and on playbills around the globe.
George Morel Interview - Interview with George Morel
Pink Noise and Morel's Groove are just a few names under which you've
danced to tracks from George Morel. The New York native, now based in
Miami, travels the world bringing his hands-in-the air thumping and
tech-house sounds to packed dancefloors. For 2008, he's planning a
major reboot to his label Groove On with monthly releases of new music
and rereleases of back catalog.
GirlTalk Interview - Interview with Girltalk
His tour t-shirts accurately proclaim "I'm Not a DJ," since Greg
Gillis, better known as GirlTalk, is not onstage playing other people
music- not directly, at least. Using sampling technology and
software, GirlTalk builds new music based on samples from many genres
– best described as an advanced musical version of the mash-up. After
bubbling in the underground for years, a Pitchfork review of his 2006
CD Night Ripper brought him to the limelight.
Hybrid Interview
Fusing breakbeats and progressive dance styles, Hybrid – the duo Mike Truman and Chris Healings, recently released their third artist album “I Choose Noise.” A move towards a cinematic feel parallels their recent work on the movie Déjà Vu and other projects they have completed while staying in Los Angeles. Collaborating with everyone from Harry Gregson Williams and the Seattle Orchestra to Peter Hook and Perry Farrell, Hybrid have created some of the most interesting electronic music of 2006.
