Alan Connor and Mike Melange’s collaboration, the dreamily pretty “I Love the Sunshine,” seems tailor-made for tea dances and beach parties with its airy guitar strumming and soothingly-echoed synth lines in the Beltek Club and Radio mixes. And while the balmy and breezy House track may only feature Alan Connor’s contribution rising up at the chorus, there’s still enough of a lyric to keep most vocal fans happy.

The Loverush UK Club Mix is a bit fuller and darker; dispensing with some of the flamenco flourishes for a tone that, while more ominous, is no less effective, and Mike Melange’s own remix swirls with a warm deliciousness; focusing on the “But the best of all is I love you” refrain until a glorious breakdown fully lets Connor’s vocal take center stage.

Romantic yet mature, “I Love the Sunshine” seems sure to bring a summer smile to your heart even on days when the sunshine itself may seem far away.

Released July 2009 on Liberty City Records
