Interesting new Rock-influenced single from former Europop
starlet-cum-Circuit Diva Amber fortunately still hearkens to her roots
with DJ-friendly mixes for the clubs. The Original Album Version is
admittedly already at a dance tempo when the beats kick in but, given
that the drums are absent for half the track, it's the gritty guitar
riffs and the haunting vocal refrain that really define the original
version.
The Kriya vs. Velez Passion Mix is a down-and-dirty House grinder that
relies primarily on rhythmic power for its appeal with a darkly
persistent drum track ornamented with curiously atonal synth
programming, which is an interesting choice to accompany Amber's
swirling vocal. While somewhat similar in style to the Kriya vs.
Velez mixes, the Sweet Rains Club Mix has more of a sweeping flair
with echo effects and drum builds a-plenty as well as instrumental
dropouts to emphasize the sexual nature of the lyric passages. Best
of the batch is the throbbing Electro magic of the Ugly Doll Club Mix,
which counterbalances its pounding beat with enough of a synth glisten
to create a powerfully energetic twirler that's also the most melodic
of this mix lineup. Whether Amber chooses to move further into Rock
territory with future releases or stay within the Dance arena, she
appears to be successfully striding the divide between the two for
now.
