On Andy Hunter's second dance-trance effort, "Life," a six-track EP, the UK native's surprising roots in, of all things, Christian music, seems somewhat out of place especially when it comes to dance music. If you like relatively fast, Matrix-like soundtracks, this EP will satisfy that interest.
I wasn't overly impressed with Mr. Hunter's follow-up to his first full-length CD, 2002's "Exodus" but, for the most part, the music didn't sound too lovey-dovey. Many tracks did sound similar to The Prodigy mixed in with a little Chemical Brothers, which quickly made me think 'been there, heard that.' The lyrics are meaningful and, dare I say it, praise-worthy, and the arrangements are your typical high BPM tracks with Mr. Hunter's synthesized vocal chords adorning a track or two, with the only track standing out for me being "Alive."
Had I not been previously acquainted with Andy Hunter's music, namely "Amazing," one of the hot tracks featured on "Exodus" along with some accompanying mixes, I would have all but written off "Life" as an okay but not a solid effort.
