Andy Hunter - To Life To Love

About.com Rating threehalf out of Five

From Kurt Kirton, for About.com

Bristol-based electronica artist Andy Hunter cranks out the second single from his 6-song EP Life with this 9-track single. Each mix has its own corresponding instrumental and edit version.

It's difficult to choose a favorite. The album mix is compelling, sporting thickly-stacked male (I assume this is Andy) and female vocals in different parts of the arrangement. It's an analog ride through quirky sounds with some nice bass; overall an electronica styling with a club feel.

Andy's own remix has its strong points. The intro builds, adding some female vocal color and juicy bass, followed by some effected piano and electronic sounds. The tempo picks up around half way through with some aggressive synth--a good dance floor pounder.

The Credric Gervais remix fares the weakest here with a repetitive bassline in the 1st half & end of song that wears thin quickly since it's the only non percussive thing in places. This version has some eurodancey keys during the transitions and saves the female vocal 'til late in the track.
