Above & Beyond's Anjunabeats label has established itself as one of the world's top trance labels. It is also a firm favorite among DJs such as Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren, ATB, and even myself. This album, Anjunabeats Volume 3, features the top highlights of the Anjunabeats' current and future release schedule, and is mixed by the heads of the label, Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamaki (aka Above and Beyond).
The album starts off with one of the most popular tracks release on the label, Yilmaz Altanhan – 'Eighties' and flows through a disco-house influenced innovation of David West's – 'Larry Mountains 45.' The album then progresses into peak time trancers such as Super8 + DJ Tab – 'First Aid' and Above and Beyond's own tracks 'Getting Away,' Air for Life,' and Sequential' while ending on one of my favorite tracks, Kyan vs Albert – 'Made of Sun.'
Anjunabeats Volume 3 is mixed very well and has a very smooth vibe. The discography is very informational by providing a glimpse into what the artists are currently doing, and what is expected in the year to come. The album does feature the top tracks the label has to offer from the last year to what will be release in the near future. Every trance enthusiast, critic, and trance DJ could benefit from this release. Much is expected from this label, as many of the tracks featured on this album are on compilations mixed together from many of the major players in the trance scene. From this support, and the quality of the music released from Anjunabeats, I am anxious to see what is in store for the next few years.
