The Weird Ones
Don't Stop also features a couple of oddities. "The Breakfast
Song" bursts out with a groove that seems aimed at the party songs of
80s girl bands rather than the new wave movement that seems to have
inspired most current acts. She shouts more than sings, "What do you
want? What do you want for breakfast?" "I Don't Like Your Band" is
cute in the way "Girlfriend" was cute, where she tells the object of
her affections that it isn't him, she can't stand his music.
Immensely fun track and about as bitchy as I've seen Annie get since
"Girlfriend."
Summary
Don't Stop is an interesting step in Annie's career. Despite the success of all of her previous singles, it feels largely like a step back. There are some brilliant tracks on the album, but there are some tracks that are far from that brilliance. I just wish it had tracks as memorable as what Anniemal had to offer.
