I'll tell you straight away, this ol' Househead L-O-V-E-S this compilation! If you need a couple of CDs for your Holiday Parties at your house or for your DJ gig, "Best of House Volume Four" [Robbins] should be one of them. You know that House music is the primary descendant of Disco, at least in New York City as the seventies became the eighties. Producers Cory Robbins and Lisa Levy prove that they know that as well. Kudos for putting this compilation together; therefore, I'm also an old Discohead! You will be too when "Lola's Theme" by Shape: UK opens up the fun on track one sounding like a Trammps jam from back in the day or the opening to Don Kirshner's Rock Concert - stirngs and horns! You'll be filled with the energy and joy of imagining a packed dance floor everytime you play it.
"Get Up Stand Up" is not the one penned by Peter Tosh, but a rousing answer to my question, "where is this year's c-o-o-l dance cut, a la Ashiva ("Sunrise"), going to come from?" Stellar Project and the lead vocals of Brandi Emma is who.
"Time" (Stonebridge Extended Mix) by Theresa and "Da Hype" from Junior Jack are stalwart cuts, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the 'last but not least' track "I like Love (I Love Love)" where Solitaire gives an early eighties Loleatta Holloway/Spinners feel to the disco they now call dance music.
