If you are a fan of "Most Precious Love," you will no doubt be up in arms for "Love Vibrations," the new single from Miss Barbara Tucker. Those same genuine emotions of love are expressed through Barbara's lyrics and vocal performance.
When asked about the lyrics, Barbara said that love is an action word. "Even spiritually- with God, who gave his only begotten son, he demonstrated love. So that's why I came up with Love Vibrations. Don't listen to what I'm saying, but feel what I'm doing." And feel it you will, with Barbara singing her heart out.
The CD single has 10 tracks; six different remixers giving their own interpretation. The Love House Original stands out with the "Love Hangover"-inspired intro, starting slowly with just Barbara singing and vibing to a piano for almost a minute and a half until the beat kicks in. That soulful vibe is present through just about all the mixes, with takes by Georgie Porgie (a nice bouncy disco-house version, with Georgie's almost trademark punchy kicks), Feliciano (body and soul for the underground heads), and Josh Harris (a Freemasons/Bimbo Jones-inspired groove with a touch of electro). Even the electro mixes by Supernova keep the soulful vibe, which could easily get lost in the ocean of techy synths and bleeps. The tribal mixes by Escape and Johnny Vicious hearken back to the mid-90s, before tribal got too dark and still had a vibe. While they might feel dated to some, the EJV mix does fit the tone of the song.
Good things come to those who wait. That's one of many things running through my head as I am playing this amazing new song. I will never forget the first time I heard her perform this live, September 2005 in New York during the Billboard Dance Music Summit at the King Street Party at Discotheque. I have been craving the honor to play this to my crowds ever since. "I ain't going nowhere, staying through thick and thin, come on feel this love vibration, we got to work it out, that's what real love's about." That is going to be the anthemic chorus of the summer.
Just as pop music has event records, a new Barbara Tucker record is an event record for the dance world. There are few artists in the dance world as loved, respect and honored as Barbara Tucker is. With amazing records like "Love Vibrations," it's easy to see why.
