The subtitle for this 2 disc collection is "24 essential dance anthems," and this proves more or less true. If it's 2001, that is. This is by and large a collection of older dance anthems, and it's kind of sad to realize that most of the tracks I thought were essential at the time, do not age well. DJ Spiller's "Groovejet" starts off disc one with a bang. This is one of the rare tracks to actually maintain some of its relevance, which is cheering. One of my more recent faves, iio's "Rapture," makes a strong case for the upcoming full album of this promising act. Other acts on disc 1 include ATC, which expired 3 months after its release, Alice Deejay (still fun, but where did they go? and don't say Candee is her sister), and Amber's practically prehistoric This Is Your Night.
Disc 2 hits a bit harder with a classic from underappreciated Underworld and Charlotte's still lovely Skin. Green Velvet's head-scratchingly odd ode to narcotics La La Land is still fun, as is Jennifer Paige's Crush. All in all, I guess this isn't bad, it's just a reminder that you have to stay on top of the game, cause it's not gonna wait around for you.
