What do you get when you blend electro, killer male soul vocals, and a goofy 80s sample? That would be "My Freedom," a cheeky electro vocal house song driven by the powerful voice of Chris Willis, the tight production skills of Joachim Garraud & David Guetta, and a quick sample from Ray Parker Jr's "Ghostbusters." The original and extended mixes are big fun with the Ghostbusters loop, and the sample hi-jinx is balanced with the truly incredible voice of Chris Willis, who Guetta paired with for his big hit "Love Don't Let Me Go." Funky Junction stops by to pound out some hard-hitting mixes with their Club mix, which hits with electrohouse style. Their Turbo remix toughens things up even more with muscular drums, ripping electro leads, and a distorted retake on the original sample loop. It's twisted. It's fierce. It rocks. Their electro remix goes for a stripped-down minimal feel that stays anchored in the same spot as the vocals drop and move through the song. In other words, this mix isn't a peaker but stays very solid. My favorite mixes are the originals and the Funky Junction Turbo, but hey, they're all good mixes. Cheers to Chris Willis, I'm a sucker for a soul singer.
