Central Station, a company out of Australia, is putting out a bunch of CDs that focus on specific genres of music. This one being "The House Years," a double CD commemorating Central Station's 30th birthday, mixed by Matt Nugent and Groove Terminator. These CDs have selections of house music from the 80's to 2006. Many of these tracks were very big hits in Australia, and many of them also made their way to the States and became hits here as well.

Disc one, mixed by Groove Terminator who also goes by the alias Chilly Hifly, sets this compilation off. GT's mix is a collection of mostly Australian tracks and focuses on some of Australia's top dance history. The mixes that I enjoy are: Chilly Hifly "Is It Love," Sgt. Slick "White Treble, Black Bass," Mr Timothy feat. Inaya Day "I Am Tha 1." This part of the compilation is a mixed bag and covers genres like house, drum and bass, progressive, and electroclash.

Disc two, mixed by Matt Nugent, will be more familiar to most listeners. House music fans that know their stuff will really love this part of the compilation; it starts off with the classic "Can You Feel It" by Mr. Fingers. Question, remember Jinny's "Keep Warm?" Yes? That's on here as well as Crystal Waters' "Gypsy Woman," and Ultra Nate's monster hit "Free." He also has tracks from Steve "Silk" Hurley, Mousse T, Armand Van Helden, Cevin Fisher, and the current house hit "Turn On The Music" by Roger Sanchez. I like the way he mixed this CD. He starts off with past dance hits and brings you right up to the current ones.

I give this CD 3 out of 5 stars because the first disc was too unfamiliar to me, but I note that I did learn a little about Australian's dance music history.
