On his sophomore Lunaticworks release we are presented with nineteen tracks, ranging from a minute and a half to just over five, of glitchy IDM (mostly) from the one-man Oakland workshop of Chachi Jones, better known around the Thanksgiving table as Donald Bell. He's managed to combine his circuit-bent "instruments" with laptopalicious beats to produce some compelling, if slightly freaky, grooves (By the way, if you're curious about the album's title, the Dymaxion was a highly unusual car designed by Buckminster Fuller in the 1930s - only three were ever built). Everything has a slightly late-night feel to it, as if the music is oozing from the pores of some great nocturnal beast, skittering around inside your skull once it's released. The intricacy with which the individual elements are combined begs for focused listening, preferably through a high-quality set of headphones.
