So, Christina takes over the dance floor yet again with quite possibly THE remix package of 2006. "Hurt" is one of Christina's best vocal achievements and the remixes only bring more passion and drama to the song. On the first set of promo mixes we have the Deeper-Mindset (Jonathan Peters + Tony Collucio) versions, which are, without a doubt, the highlight of the entire remix package. Also on the promo package are Hani's take on the track under the alias Jack Shaft. Jonathan & Tony's Deeper-Mindset mixes are stunning. Great synths and somewhat tribal beats really take the song to the next level and they manage not to lose any of Christina's emotion. Jonathan Peters + BSOD's Electro mix is quite the different sound for Peters and really takes the song to a different level. Very old school and funky, this version is also very good, although some of the emotion of the song seems gone. The Jack Shaft mixes are straight up hard & funky and, although he chose not to include the full vocal, there are enough lines from the song to make these versions acceptable. In fact, I really admire how he manipulated the vocal and I'm not so sure I would've liked his mixes as much if the full vocal had been used. If you want even more takes on "Hurt," check out the iTunes single with an additional Jonathan Peters mix; his Classic mix, although not as good as the Deeper-Mindset version, is still a great mix and will work the dance floor at the right time.
