DJ/Producing team Chus & Ceballos seemed to burst onto the scene a few years ago with their now signature tribal sound and, for the first time, they're releasing a DJ-mixed compilation on the famed Star 69 label. The signature style I speak of (Iberican to you natives) consists of a mix of big-room drums and world-beat type sounds with a heavy load of dark, atmospheric vibes and a dash of vocals. It's exactly what I would expect at an afterhours party in Spain. This is the future of tribal and (as the label reads) "100% pure Iberican sound!"
Standouts of the collection include Cytric's "I Need You" layered with vocal samples from Cevin Fisher's "Love You Some More," Richie Santana's "Afterhours Rhythm," and Chus & Ceballos' own "In Stereo." For those who need to sing along, you can't go wrong with Andrea Doria's amazing remix of "Deep Sleepless Night." I can't say enough about this track - it's worth the price of the CD all by itself!
