Keeping true to form, DJ Dan's 2004 release entitled "That Phone Track" comes down like a wrecking ball onto a concrete dance floor. The driving 4/4 is backed by Dan's signature sound of pounding basslines and a rock n' roll feel. One thing that can't be denied at any time is the fact that the track sits comfortably within the realms of even the hardest of techno sets. Beeping busy signals, retro-ringing bells, and pay phone dial tones are the pigments that blend beautifully into the artist's dynamic electro-canvas, as the operator apologetically states "We're sorry, the number you have reached has been disconnected."
The next remix (Dub Mix) is much darker and progressive with its growling guttural bassline and filtered busy signal (not for the squeamish). With an easy mix in/out and excellent progressive movements, this remix works well standing alone or across another track.
Bryan Cox's remix instantly drops in as an extremely techy and filtered dub version that resonates with the relentless funk found in the original track. This is the most "Subliminal" track on the entire record and is sure to be a favorite.
