Darren Tate (a.k.a. DT8 Project) brings another solid hit to follow up his previous smash single "The Sun Is Shining (Down On Me)" from last summer. The last single talked about the hot days of summer while this one focuses on the cold chilly days of winter. Very fitting when you consider the time of the year that both singles were released. Here, the UK star brings in the awesome vocal talents of Andrea Britton, who is coming off her own success for Lost Witness when she provided the vocals to the smash trance hit "Wait For You." I guess it is only fitting because "Winter" pretty much picks up where "Wait For You" left off more so than "The Sun Is Shining (Down On Me)." The main reason is the way the track is structured for its beautiful yet haunting vocals. Hearing Andrea nail line after line of the lyrics, you can't help but get the cold chill running down your spine. I mean after all, she is singing about the winter season. Chances are if you're listening to this in your car you can feel your leather jacket rub up against your car seat and every time you look out at the horizon you can see your own breath.
But if you're still shivering, then the remix lineup will be sure to heat up your body in a hurry. The CD Single comes equipped with the Radio Edit and Original Extended Mix. Both are sheer beauty and very melodic. There is a Max Graham Sidechain Mix but on the CD there is only a radio edit and didn't come on any of the vinyl copies I have of it. So if you want the full mix you might have to do some research. But nonetheless he turns this tune into a fine house song and gives you another option to play with. The Aston Martinez and JLP Club Mix gives a fine house mix with some added piano to the production and lately there seems to be a nice trend of having house mixes with trance tunes ala the latest Tiesto. For all you trance fans, the GD Remix gives you the full trance effect you've been looking for and is the perfect compliment to Andrea Britton's beautiful voice. For those of you who want something a little harder, check out the Ian Knowles Remix. For those of you who loved the previous single along with this one and are gasping for more your worries are over. Darren Tate is planning a full length album for the DT8 Project with more guest vocals to come.
