I must admit, I heard the O-Zone track a few months back and said.. 'nahh...' but over time I found myself getting caught up in the hype of the song's overseas success (videos, ringtones, commercials, etc), and I was hooked myself. It had grown on me, and I asked myself "Mai Ai Hee. what the heck does it mean, and why does it sounds so catchy?"

Just as I asked myself the question, a US release featuring additional production from Valentin (QED, Britney Spears, and a long list of others), and English vocals by Lucas Prata (Never Be Alone, Let's Get It On) was released. It definitely retains all of its original "catchiness" while adding some essential "US Essence." Lucas actually was flown to Italy to meet with Dan Balan, and come up with a very close English translation to the original Romanian version.

No doubt this song's infectious nature will eventually also sweep the US off its feet. My advice is if you listen to it once, don't put it down, listen to it a few more times, and no doubt it will infect you and your crowd.

Oh, and by the way Lucas told me a secret. "Mai Ai Hee and the chorus don't mean anything... it's like they're singing la la la." So why not get infected with Mai Ai Hee.
