Deepest Blue is back with the Grand Slam as they release there fourth single off there "Late September" debut album. We are all familiar with their first hit single "Deepest Blue." Then came "Give It Away" and third single "Is It a Sin." But for some reason only the first single had the most success in the United States. It gets hard to follow up such a successful single like their first one. Yet with this single, the focus isnt on the mainstream but the focal point is more on the underground scene with this single. The Original Mix always has Deepest Blue sounding like a cross between Savage Garden and U2. Sort of a peaceful soft rock and ambient feel to it has been their trademark sound. The Remixes are a different story. Besides the Radio and Instrumental Edits this single splits into two genre of dance music. House and Trance comes to the forefront. The Smith and Pledger Remix is a tough trance piece, yet keeps some of the beautiful elements in there. But typically, this trance mix is perfect for big room club sets. The best mix here is the Full Intention Remix. The best way to describe this remix is to think back to 2002 with Junior Jacks single "Thrill Me."
The sound and style is very similar and it almost acts like a follow up or a sister remix if you will. Its tweaking and filtering is a perfect fit for the underground house scene and I wouldnt be surprised to see some of the big name DJs get on this one. It may be in some of the underground DJs Mixshow sets, but this single is geared more towards the clubs this time around. So even though Deepest Blue may not have had the commercial success over here in the United States does not make them a one hit wonder in my book. In fact, I think they are clearly one of the best Dance Music tandems in the world and their work needs to be respected.
