Covering a song as timeless as "Missing" by Everything But The Girl should come with a disclaimer. Only attempt it if you plan to knock one out of the park and blow everyone away with the vocals, production, remix assortment, and overall package. Unfortunately, Ella's recent remake of "Missing" fails to stand out as anything other than a haphazard cover version that no one will remember a year from now. Nothing wrong with her voice or the production, it's just not on the level of impact you'd expect from covering this song. Ella's webpage http://www.myspace.com/ellamusiconline claims she has a 3½ octave range, although you'd never know it from these vocals. A sparse 2 versions make up the remix package for "Missing", the US Extended Edit (purchase/download) and the Pop Extended Edit (oxymoron anyone?). Both are rather similar, the former being a bit more underground/electro-sounding while the latter adds some pretty decent synths. Not much more can be said about this release again, it's solid, just nothing to write home about.
