"Mesmerized" is a single from Faith Evans' latest album, "Faith The
First Lady." And boy this one is hot as a July scorcher in Miami.
Absolute R&B house vocal heaven, the funky diva is in top form. Soul
vocals and uplifting house vibes come together and create one of the
catchiest, hottest vocal house tracks of the summer.
Without a doubt the most infectious remix of this bunch is Freemasons
Full Vocal mix. Sounding hot as Aretha Franklin, Faith Evans brings an
old school soul flavor out and the musical production is lush with
harmony and melody. This mix feels so good
to me- instant classic.
Ben Watt's remix keeps the fun factor up, with some playful vocal
banter as an intro, then going into a funky 303 line that is the
musical backbone of the track. Then, full vocals are brought in. As I
said, Evans' vocals are perfection. I think they could be layered over
a cowbell and would still sound great. Naturally Ben Watt brings that
touch of funk and class he's known for to the track.
Finally, the Dave Hernandez remix is the most stripped-down of the
batch. The hi-hat is placed up-front, and it accentuates a swing feel.
A few low rolling bass growls and some melodic percussion finishes it
off. Three good mixes, but I think it's the Freemasons Full Vocal mix
that is the absolute showstopper here. This is one of the best house
remixes to come from the R&B stable that I've heard in quite a while.
Faith firmly holds down her status as a soul diva with this track.
Excellent work all around!
