Fall Out Boy (not to be confused with Fallout Boy, another rock group of a slightly less pleasant variety) definitely has a sense of whimsy about some of their song titles; the current album includes tracks like "Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued" and "I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me." Its first single, though, simply titled "Dance Dance," has been given the remix treatment, and dance music fans seem to be digging it. The club mixes are slowly climbing the Billboard Club Play chart, while the single enjoys its spot at the top of the heap on the Hot 100 chart.
The highlight would have to be Tommie Sunshine's Brooklyn Fire Re-Touch Mix (along with its Dub and buzzing-up-the-charts Radio Edit). He uses some syncopated rhythms and almost a breakbeat feel during the verses, but the chorus brings straight up four-on-the-floor house beats over the catchy lyrics of the chorus. Also of note are the fade-in vocal stretch effects and super-cold ending of the Radio Edit.
The Lindbergh Palac guys deliver another solid production, slightly more edgy and funky than the Tommie Sunshine Mix. While only a short radio edit, the chords and music are probably the best of the bunch.
This band has enjoyed great recent success in the mainstream, showing up everywhere from Myspace to Jay Leno and Saturday Night Live. Good to see that their record label is keeping club-goers in mind by delivering these remixes. Dance Dance indeed!
