The latest installment in the popular Centaur series "Fire Island Classics" features a gorgeous blend of house tracks that will have you feeling like you are dancing on the dancefloor of the Pavilion. DJ Dale Rozman's track selection and mixing is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, as you reminisce about those endless weekends in the Pines.
Jon Cutler's soulful house track, "It's Yours" is a great way to start the disc and ease you into Rozman's dancefloor. From there, Rozman kicks things up a notch with Sandy B's "Make the World Go Round," the quintessential anthem of all dancefloors. This track has truly stood the test of time, and has certainly earned its place on this disc. Patti Austin's "Reach" is a powerful house track with a positive message and fierce vocals. The positivity continues with the Happy Clappers "I Believe," a piano-heavy track with a female vocal proclaiming "I believe in love." Rozalla's "Everybody's Free" is another 90s classic that does it for me every time, especially the version featured on this disc, the Eurobeat Piano Mix. While it may not be a classic yet, especially since the track is only a few years old, the Praise Cats "Shined on Me" certainly fits right in due to its uplifting vocals by Andrea Love and beautifully arranged music. The light-trance track "The Key, The Secret" by Urban Cookie Collective helps to close out the disc, along with Static Revenger's "So High," a track that truly reflects many of the emotions and sounds of Fire Island.
DJ Dale Rozman seems to really capture Fire Island on this disc. He provides a soundtrack to a place that is special to so many people, and does so in a way that reveals the Island to someone who has never been there. Most certainly, after listening to this disc, anyone who hasn't taken the ferry out of Sayville, New York and onto the docks of Fire Island will be making plans to do so in the future.
