As a companion CD to the popular Gay College Party events thrown in New York City and around the country, this "Gay College Party" compilation is a cover fest of danced-up versions of pop hits from the past few decades. Featuring tracks from the best-known NRG cover labels, Almighty and Klone Records in the UK and the S.A.I.F.A.M. group in Italy, the CD mixes more recent versions of classic dance hits on the gay scene like the Kinky Boyz tackling Dead Or Alive’s "You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)" and Chekmate’s version of Erasure’s "A Little Respect" with manic new renditions of more recent pop/R&B tracks like Mario Winans’s "I Don’t Wanna Know" covered by Princess Paragon, Beyonce’s "Naughty Girl" frantically redone by Jemini, and Christina Aguilera’s "I Turn To You" now sung by Sheldon.

A pleasant enough set of Hi-NRG covers overall, with the standout tracks being Belle Lawrence’s thundering take on the Simple Minds anthem "Don’t You Forget About Me" and Ultima wistfully covering "Why Does It Always Rain On Me" by Travis. Perhaps what’s most interesting about this set is that, given the late-teen to early-20s range of its target market, "Gay College Party" will be introducing club classics of yesteryear like Company B’s "Fascinated" (now by Boyz With Toyz) or Gabrielle’s "Dreams" (here done by Essence) to a whole new audience on the dancefloor.
