For trance fans, this will be the one to have in 2005. Packed with fourteen tracks, George Acosta does what he does oh so well he hypnotizes the listener with melodic rhythms and ferocious productions and he does so on "The LostWorld" in just under seventy-nine minutes.
While a few of the songs are from the States, Acosta has wisely chosen to include many of the top trance masterminds in European music today.
With such an outstanding package from start to finish, it is nearly difficult to find fault with song selection. However, being such a fan of the original, I was mildly disappointed with the Yves Deruyter take on Underworld's "Born Slippy" the vocals tried to equal the real deal, but fell noticeably short. It is also trying that the final track on the CD - Jon Secada "Center" (a George Acosta production) fades out in around four minutes.
With superior production exploding on Push "R.E.S.P.E.C.T.," Mindcrusher "Vision '05" (Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix), and Signum "Come Around Again" (DJ Danjo & Rob Styles Remix), it was difficult not to hit repeat on the CD player. One track that kept winning out over my will was the amazing Krya vs. Velez "I Want You" (George Acosta Remix) with its hard, throbbing bassline and layers of vocal stuttering, looping and manipulation. Clocking in at just 5 minutes, I was left wanting more and regularly went back for seconds and thirds.
This compilation is a winner for the purist or just the occasional listener of trance, like me. I didn't know what to expect and was more than pleased I know you will be as well.
You can do it - take a journey into The LostWorld.
