Fitting squarely in the Electronic genre without really aiming anywhere near the Dance Music end of things is this historically fascinating double CD re-issue of early 1970s compositions from Gershon Kingsley melding traditional Jewish music with the then-new Moog synthesizers. Sometimes bizarrely avant-garde, sometimes beautifully otherworldly, the "God Is A Moog" set complies wildly creative works like the five-piece sets "Maven On The Moog" and "Jewish Experience" on CD one and the two full-length albums Kingsley recorded for Jewish rituals, "Shabbat For Today" and The Fifth Cup," on CD two.
Kingsley's work here is often a rather esoteric experience given that many of the vocals are either in sung Yiddish or are dramatic spoken word pieces in English and the experimental synth work of thirty years ago may prove more daunting than enjoyable for listeners who prefer more modern electronic arrangements (though a few tracks like "What Is Creativity?" or "The First Commandment" would actually make for interesting Electro singles with some slight remixing).
