Ball of Waxx records, originally founded by David deLaski and John Kelley, encompasses what every solid label should: a multi-media business base that can only ensure the survival and success of any independent imprint. Since its conception well over a decade ago, Ball of Waxx has been collecting/compiling album after album of hot original electronica from all over the world.
The 2004 label compilation release titled 'Groove Closet' is as good as it gets when referring to a primo representation of a label's encompassing style and sound. Tracks from Lord Runningclam, Eastern Sun, Linnear, Void, Test Shot Starfish, Desert Dwellers, RaRa Avis, and more absolutely brim with international soul and insight. A few of the shining stars of this album are Linnear's 'Drunken Business Man' (a sub-bass & glitch compilation featuring sloppy transistor scratched confusion with the rantings of a glory-pushing preacher). Another spotlighted single is Lord Runningclam's electro DnB funk-jam 'Dewstep.'
All in all, John Kelley and Dave deLaski keep the ol' Ball of Waxx in good hands. Electro and Glitch enthusiasts should be sure to look-out for past, current, and future releases from this solid imprint.
