I've definitely noticed a shift in the sound of house music lately. I'm finding that it's going back to the time when house music was simple, very Frankie Kunckles, David Morales, Tony Humphries-sounding, driven with heavy piano melodies.
There are three mixes on this promo CD: original extended, "Lil Joy Remix," and a radio edit of the original. As I'm listening to this CD, in the lyrics you'll hear the names of some the above pioneers of dance music I listed. I'm a little surprised that I didn't hear more vocals from Duane because as we know from many of his past hits like "You Don't Know Me" and "What You Need," he's a great singer and I wanted to hear him SING. The original mix has a real good moving rhythm to it, definitely a floorshaker. The second mix, called the "Lil Joy Remix," has a disco sample in it which sounds like an edited sample from "Supernature" by Cerrone, again another trend that is becoming predominate. However, I felt the second mix got a bit repetitive even with its filtered breaks.
I know that this is a white label promo CD so who knows there might be lots of other mixes out there but at the time of this review I only had these three so with that, I will only give this CD 3 out of 5 stars.
