Distinctive Breaks-UK
Disclaimer: I loves me some Hybrid. When Mike & Chris came to my town a few years back, we had them in the studio and they were even nice enough to do some promos for the station and my show. But even accounting for that bias, trust me when I say: This is a very nice mix CD. And what else would you expect from that dynamic duo of Welshmen, the same pair that put together 2001’s "Remixes and Additional Production," which put the Hybrid polish on electronic smashes like Energy 52’s "Café Del Mar" and BT’s "Never Gonna Come Back Down." Their handling of "Bodyrock" impressed Moby so much he offered them an opening spot on his next tour.

The lineup of tracks and artists is no less impressive this time out: "My Kingdom (part 4)" from Future Sound Of London, the Luke Chable mix of Gus Gus’ "David," the Chemical Brothers classic "Chemical Beats" and the absolutely stinging Stereo remix of Orbital’s "One Perfect Sunrise." There’s lots more, including two Hybrid pieces that bookend the 13 tracks that make up this continuous mix.

The Man On Fire edit of "The Drop" provides the signature Hybrid blend of beats and sci-F/X to open things up, but it’s their reworking of Lil’ Louis’ house classic "Blackout" that makes this disc a must-have for any serious fan of either the group or the genre.

Distinctive have done this project properly - in addition to the full-length CD and LP, there are 2 separate 12" releases with two tracks each (plus another 12" picture disc with three!) and four separate mp3 singles (one an exclusive track not available otherwise) available for download.
