Jazzanova - The Remixes 2002 - 2005

The end of the year usually signals a lull in dance music releases, so it's always a treat when a top quality heavy–hitter like Jazzanova's remixes 2002-2005 hits the shelves. The sequel to their now classic collection of remixes from 1997 through 2000 features ten of the sextet's best reworks over the past three years, including two previously unreleased cuts.

Fans of Berlin's best dance music export will no doubt have many of these tunes in their collections already. Definitive remixes of Masters at Work/Roy Ayers' "Our Time is Coming" and Shaun Escoffery's "Let it Go" anchor this compilation as probably the best-known reworks of this era. Also featured is Jazza's remix of Eddie Gale's "Song of Will," a favourite of the band that they included on their Blue Note records compilations released earlier in 2005. Listeners will be thrilled to know that not only does this collection of remixes bring together ten of Jazzanova's best works, but it also includes the stellar "Wonderlove" from New York soul collective Heavy, and the much sought-after "Honest" from Finland's Nuspirit Helsinki.

For their re-treatment of Status IV's dance music standard "You Ain't Really Down," one of the previously unreleased tunes on this album, Jazzanova rocks the a cappella over a funked-down Afro-electro rhythm. Also unreleased until now is their exquisitely done remix of Free Design's "Lullaby."

Many thanks to the Sonar Kollektiv label for this much needed holiday treat!
