An undisputed West Coast party legend, DJ John Kelley has been at the forefront of the US Rave and EDM scene for more than a decade. When I was first introduced to Kelley, it was through his tripped-out, blissful sunrise sets at many a California desert party. In the more recent past, his sets have embraced more breaks and techno-influenced styles and this debut artist album show the amalgamation of all of these desperate influences. From the smooth, hip-hop influenced "Eighty Eight" and Stanton Warrior-esque "Funkasaurus" to the eminently soulful "Alleycats," this is a solid release. Looking forward to hearing more from Mr. Kelley in the future.
