A. Habersham Gently Shifting People (Relisys Momentary Lapse Of Reason Remix)
Habersham's "Gently Shifting People" is an excellent tune any way you cut it. There are a lot of breakbeat elements clashing with electro and house on this one, forming a tune that is not just interesting but rather infectious. An excellent vocal sets the tune off while spacious pads and filtered delays make for a classic "dance tune" a-la BT. While this one is an incredible piece of work, it's a bit difficult to stylistically pin it down into a single genre.
B. Hawke Vivos en la muerte
On the flip side we've got one from Hawke (Gavin Hardkiss) entitled "Vivos En La Muerte." Starting out we get a very abstract introduction as we go downtempo from the flip-side, marinating on some chilled out beats while percussion and an interesting synth line take over. Some vocal work and more percussion come together to carry the tune into a small progression while things build up. There's no question about it, this tune is very cool and may not see the light of a dance-floor but is definitely one for the mixtape.
