This duo, consisting of Eighty A. Bug (lead vocals, turntables) and Spencer Nezey (programming, keys & synths, beatbox), have some really great cuts on this full-length CD album. The music reminds me of a cross between the first Pink CD "Can't Take Me Home" and The Brand New Heavies. The female vocals sound similar to Pink with the addition of Spencer adding vocals and the unique style they have put in their music.
Their sound has a modern feel with its mixture of pop, rock, dancehall, R&B, and hip-hop styles. "GO," the first single off the album (and one of my favorites), is one of the hip-hop, pop, dancehall cuts on the CD. "GO" has also been remixed by none other than the Friscia & Lamboy team. The remixes are really hot, especially the tribal mix (look for that remix single available separately now). A few other favorites are "Liv The Day" (again another similar style to Pink, whom I'm a huge fan of), and also "The Bus."
The variety of styles on this 11-track CD not only shows the versatility of the artists, but also keeps the listeners from getting bored. They are again modern, funky, and fun to listen to, and I feel they are refreshing. I also feel that the production is top notch; I couldn't believe how clear and crisp it sounded, both vocally and musically. Overall, it's a great full-length to listen to and should be part of your collection, especially if you like the artist Pink.
I'd like to add that after doing some research on this group (www.jupiter-rising.com), I found out that they have been really tearing it up out there by having their music be part of TV shows and commercials for some major corporations like GM Chevy cars and Disney. You've probably already heard their music but didn't know it was Jupiter Rising.
