Fresh off the dance floor success of his George Michael cover "Amazing," Late Nite VIP is the first album from New York-based singer/songwriter/producer & lounge DJ Keo Nozari. I must preface this review, though, by saying, this is more a pop than a dance record.
Keo's music has been a hit on television (from features on Regis and Kelly to MTV's licensing of several tracks). The project is essentially a theme-album, with its focus on the the glittery to the pensive aspects of nightlife.
First single "Close Enough" exudes a Daniel Bedingfieldian feel while other tracks range from boy-band pop to dance to ballads. Of particular interest are the dance-pop of "Rewind" and "Late Nite Lounge: WVIP," with a sound reminiscent of the early work of dance-pop artist Bryan Todd.
Personally, I would have packaged this record differently: Its artwork doesn't adequately represent the music, appearing more like a jazz or alternative rock release. Not a CD that would be of interest to dance fans looking for their next euro or trance fix, Late Nite VIP still holds up as a decent pop album and debut effort from a promising young artist.
