One of the most eagerly-anticipated dance singles in clubland has finally hit the market, with an impressive 12-track CD single and digital download. Kristine W's new single "The Boss" was the headliner release for the recent debut of Masterbeat, a new dance music download website which is kind of like a cross between iTunes and Beatport. February 2008 is the scheduled release date of the 12-track CD single for "The Boss," bringing to a close over two years of anticipation for this record from Kristine W fans worldwide.

Rumor has it "The Boss" got its beginnings in Junior Vasquez's NYC recording studio, all the way back in 2005 (or even earlier, depending on who's telling the story). Fast-forward to the present, and Kristine has re-recorded the vocals at studios in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for a killer batch of hot new remixes from Love To Infinity, Johnny Vicious, Tracy Young, Jamie J. Sanchez, and Paul Goodyear.

Not a bad mix among them, "The Boss" remix package shines through the strongest on the high-octane "Love In The Club Mix" reworked by longtime UK remixing group Love To Infinity. A perfect combination of their piano-house "classic paradise" sound, updated with the trance-y pace of their Soda Club moniker, the LTI mix is the highlight for this reviewer. Tracy Young's mix is another favorite, with a fierce driving circuit sound that will blow you away on a big-room sound system. Not one but two remixes from Paul Goodyear grace this release: the main club mix takes things in more of a tribal/circuit direction, while his Funky Downunder Mix spices things up with a few more keyboards and synth lines.

Johnny Vicious' mix builds quite nicely, with many intricate layers, even if the bassline doesn't vary much through the duration of the mix. Although the long-awaited Wayne G mix of "The Boss" was not chosen for the final remix package, Kristine's camp tells me it could always be released as a future digital download or possible B-side, so we'll just have to wait and see. After all, with 12 remixes and a whopping 75 minutes worth of music on the CD single, there literally isn't room for more!

All this on the heels of Kristine W's upcoming album "The Power Of Music," scheduled to be released in early summer 2008. In short, "The Boss" is a treat for long-time fans, and a solid choice for dance music lovers everywhere.
