We all wish we had one, sometimes to replace the one we already have.
Actress Leah Renee has given us just that with the release of her
first single, "iBF (Imaginary Boyfriend)."
It is easy to connect with this singer as her vocals are authentic and
truthful. It may be because she is also co-writer for this track (and
for her debut CD Storybook due out later this year). The personal
investment made here is so deep you can feel it, even in this pure
delicious piece of pop-dance.
Steve Mac Twists Up IBF For the Underground
Remixer Steve Mac took sweet Leah and twisted her all up for the underground crowd. Mac provides the listener with both a DUB and Vocal Mix yet on the Vocal Mix, only the words "Imaginary Boyfriend" are dropped & looped repeatedly. Fortunately, the remainder of the production is valid and when Mac takes us on a progressive voyage not through one, two, or even three cascading build-ups, you are along loving the ride. Mac smartly manipulates Leahs vocals, so that the phrase "Imaginary Boyfriend" brings to mind the band Aqua and their hit "Barbie Girl." On the flipside, the Steve Mac DUB Mix delivers only a few more percussion stabs at different points without bringing anything fresh to the listener.Mike Rizzo Remixes Leah Renee
Mike Rizzo has been very active lately and here his talents shine through. The Mike Rizzo Funk Generation Minimal Club Mix is THE mix to play and really captures the essence of Leah Renee. Rizzo starts off the production solid with a sinisterly addictive groove and instantly I forget I am supposed to be writing a review I just want to get up and dance! Rich with effectively placed hooks, sound synth work and background keyboards that highlight all the elements - it is one worthy Club Mix.IBF Is Just the First Chapter of a Storybook
The first chapter from Storybook has been a great read and leaves me looking forward to the next.Released April 2009 on Scion Music Group Records
