Eurodance fans throw up your hands and rejoice! I haven't heard the previous volumes in this series, but this well-done high-energy covers collection impressed me. It's megamixed from song to song, and Disc 2 fares stronger than Disc 1.
U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" is compelling- what a great song to cover in a dance style, and it translated so well! A driving bassline, tight bgv's, and dead-on dance programming make for a standout track. And speaking of great choices to cover, "Human" weaves 80s-feel programming with present day club energy and is accentuated by a male vocalist who (a bit of female bgv's) pulls off this worthy cover of a catchy 80s hit. "Thriller," complete with a male (not a Vincent Price sample) spoken vocal intro and a similar bassline to the remix of Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," undulates with dance energy and is another gem on this 2-disc collection. Yet another daunting classic well done!
"The Lucky One"'s (not a Britney cover) black female vocalist and lush synth stack-punctuated transitions make for a strong dance number. Other standout tracks are "Only Time Will Tell," "Too Much Time on my Hands," and "Angel of the Morning."
If you're an 80s club-cover enthusiast like me, you'll hearken back to alternate versions of these classics that are better done on other projects: "Sweet Child O Mine," "With or Without You," "Searchin,'" and "Living on a Prayer."
Overall a great album--good choices of songs, most not already done to death and substantial in length, each weighing in around 4:30-5+ min's. This is an import with a price that somewhat reflects that. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
