For better or worse, there is a major insurgence in minimal house and techno at the minute. Label after label are popping up and providing us with their newest interpretation on this glitchy, quirky sound. An exception to the many who are just jumping on the bandwagon, Germany-based Liebe Ist Cool have been doing the minimal thing for many years now. Their new disc for Electric Avenue is a deep, sexy, uber-chic journey through the world of microhouse. From the funky opening strains of "Mehr Sommer" to the odd, melancholy "Life is OK - Version 1" and the subterranean "Waldspaziergang," this is as eclectic and idiosyncratic an album as you are likely to find this year.
