1. How has this not happened before? The two most continually relevant and iconic dance artists of the eighties (and nineties and aughts, for that matter) never managed to work together before?
2. Those bright bouncy Whitney "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" bleeps, and a slightly oomphier bassline than the original version, but there's a remarkable use of a double breakdown in the intro.
3. The added Neil Tennant vocals make the spoken word intro much easier to deal with. No longer does it seem silly.
4. Then Madonna's voice hits that first chorus and the production hits you like the most delicious 80s bonbon.
5. Make no mistake, the sound is aggressive, very butch for PSB and Madonna, with a muscular lead synth and a serious subsonic hook.
6. There's a glorious break just before the five minute mark, leading inexorably to the reentry of that delicious pounding drum program.
7. This seems to me to be the perfect fruition of the Pet Shop Boys' dancefloor sound, incorporating elements of their various own detours into subgenre and refining them into a unified theory of energy, and when I say energy, I mean NRG.
8. To be as cheesy as possible in expressing how great this remix is well, in the words of the Andrea True Connection, "More! More! More!" More PSB remixes/collaborations of/with Madonna. Bring on a commercial release...
