Mariah Carey - Say Somethin

Island/Def Jam

With such a huge comeback for Mariah on her "Emancipation of Mimi" album, I was hoping for a bigger variety of remixes but unfortunately, there are only three. Mariah once again has teamed up with David Morales who has pretty much done a remix I think on just about every single Mariah has released since "Dream Lover."

Together, this combo usually has been a winner, but this time around I think it's lacking creativity. I'm a big fan of both, but for me this single really sounded like it was put together too quickly. On both the radio and anthem mixes, the main beat sounds like a sample riff from Everything But The Girl's "Wrong" and it has the usual gospel choir background vocals. I really feel these remixes sound like a few previously released remixes he's done for her. The dub mix is a bit more interesting and sounds totally different than the others as it's darker and has lots of trance/techno synth sounds.

I will only give this CD 3 out of 5 stars because it sounds like past remixes they have done.
