Here's a funk track from Om records. The main element is a bouncy, funky acoustic bassline with retro-soul vocal samples. Aside from that, it's minimal. It goes: "I got space, you got space, everybody's got space
ya gotta take in stride." Two house mixes and three downtempo. Mark Farina brings the first house mix, and it's the funkiest of the two with a driving, bouncy bassline. Kaskade puts in the second house mix, lightening the track up with some guitar strums and a sunny, breezy cali vibe.
Next three mixes are downtempo, starting off with the original, sounding much like the old Nightmares on Wax and Mo Wax stuff. On the jazzy, dubby, atmospheric tip. Julius Papp does the next remix making it a little grittier with a slightly harder kick and mellow horns riffs. People Under the Stairs finish off the remixes with a more leftfield approach, making the track even more dubby and atmospheric- bringing in turntable effects and giving the rhythm a funky, drag feel.
All in all, a nice slice of San Fransisco styled funk. I just wish Mark Farina's house mix was longer (it's radio edit length) because in my opinion it's the best mix on here. Then again, the single as a whole is probably more firmly aimed at the down-tempo fans, who should be happy with these mixes. I give it a high mark for the Farina mix alone.
