Marlon D is a talented DJ and producer out of the Big Apple who has tapped Kenny Dope, Alix Alvarez, Manoo, 83 West and Fanatix as the
remixers on Nervous Nitelife: House Classics Remixed, the latest in the Nervous Records series that puts a fresh
coat of paint on material from Kim English, Joi Caldwell, Kerri Chandler, Danny Krivit, Josh Wink and others.
This album evokes memories from the days of the original big voiced diva lead singers like Jocelyn Brown (Somebody Elses Guy,) Rochelle Fleming (First Choice) and Connie Harvey (Vicious) as well as male falsettos of Byron Stingly, former lead of the
short-lived group Ten City, and the late Eddie Kendricks, even. There is nothing that Byron Stingily sings that I dont want to listen and
dance to, by the way! Not Suspicious! This CD is a mastermixers dream come true as you DJs can weave in and out of it!
House Classics is reminiscent of what we felt back in the late 1970s, when the hand claps and finger pops became signature staples of the evolution Disco underwent as it evolved into Club, House and all the other subtitles of Dance music that people use today. We heap special praise upon the
segue way into People Make The World Go Round, and while at the altar, genuflect to Kim Englishs slightly subliminal homage to The
Creator on It Makes A Difference a la the and Kyle Smith/Krivit remixed version.
This little collection is a total wall-to-wall mix, but the novice should refer to the instruction booklet before using, while pro DJs who know their music history will especially love it. Lest we forget the collector of this aggregation, Marlon D definitely has a party goin on. There are a lot of party music peeps in the crib, rocking steadily to these beats and doing what they did! All hands on the decks because there are no nerves associated with blessing this disc with five gamboling stars.
