After having success earlier this year with the track "Beautiful Day," Matt Darey is back with a new single and assistance from both mixer/DJ Tall Paul and the band Alabama 3, who are best known as the band who provided the opening theme to the now-defunct HBO show "The Sopranos." "No Submission" is a dance rock track that breaks no new ground, but is very upbeat and energetic. The Extended Mix relies on the gruff vocals of the band's lead singers Jake Black and Rob Spragg and the thick electric guitars to make the beats stand out. The chugging synth line that runs throughout the song only accentuates the rock feel of the song. The other mix offered here is the Tech Mix. This remix still retains the rock feel, but adds even more electronic effects and toughens up the synthesizers. The guitars are again a main element and more drums are added to give the track a clubbier feel. The vocals in this mix feel somewhat obscured thanks in part to all the added effects, but it doesn't detract from the song overall. This song is a great preview of the upcoming CD from Matt entitled "Nocturnal." It's also a good choice to play on a more alternative-leaning night or even later in the evening during peak hours to give the crowd something a little different from the diva wailing tracks that are the standard. All in all, another great track from Matt Darey and crew.
