Michael Buble has gone from relative obscurity to worldwide fame in just a few short years. His Frank Sinatra-esque style, his bubbly personality, and his good looks have translated well with legions of fans. He has even managed to grab the ear of club punters thanks to remixes of songs like "Sway" and "Save The Last Dance For Me." His latest CD "Call Me Irresponsible" has already spawned a Top Ten hit on the Adult Contemporary charts and he is now looking to scale the dance charts once again with the remixes of "It Had Better Be Tonight." Mixing duties for this track have been placed in the hands of Eddie Amador, who hasn't been doing much on the remix front lately but has turned out some classic in years past, including his own smashes "House Music" and "Rise."

The two mixes offered are a Club Mix and the House Lovers Club Mix. The Club Mix is a pretty standard remix featuring some filtering effects and a bouncing beat. Hearing Michael's jazz-tinged vocal delivery on top of a pounding bassline such as the one used here may be a bit jarring for some folks. During the verses, the bass decreases and the original horns come into play, making for a nice breakdown effect. Still, there is nothing here that is very original or exciting. It's a good mix, but typical of the current sound and style. Eddie's House Lovers Club Mix is actually a better version. The beats are still danceable, but more percussion is added, giving the track a lighter and funkier feel. The bass guitar and violins are a great touch, truly giving the song that classic house feel. Also giving the song some bonus points are the Latin-styled drums and guitars. My only small complaint is that the vocals don't appear until almost halfway through the song. This may cause some folks to lose interest. Hopefully not because this mix is a breath of fresh air compared to the thundering sound of many mixes out there.

Overall, Eddie Amador does good work with both mixes, giving DJs a choice between peak hour and early evening/tea dance flavors. Michael's vocals are as always beautiful and prove once again why he is the hottest male vocalist out there right now.
