Do you wanna get funky? Ms. Costa certainly does! The song she’s using as the lead single from her upcoming album (CantNeverDidNothin’) rivals the work of George Clinton himself; this jam is pure Funk at its finest with its keyboard arrangement and bassline sounding like they came straight from the late 70’s / early 80’s. The male vocalists in the chorus help to give this song an interesting retro feel. Ms. Costa herself reminds me a bit of Macy Gray with her quirky, vibrant vocals though I must say that in parts of the song she sounds like she’s shrieking a bit. The song is not instantly infectious but it does grow on you after a few listens. It would definitely be a breath of fresh air for Pop radio, which has been overloaded with Rap and Rock music for the past few years.
