Star 69 Records continues in its path toward the dance music Hall of Fame with new remixes for the already huge SEARCHING. The original is a gritty, stomping vocal tune with an electro twist and as a remixer, a tough track to approach. Nissim did such a great job with it that it's hard to seperate yourself from the original and create something unique. So how do these fresh remixes sound?
The first offering is from Javith who have helmed other projects from the label such as FEEL THE DRUMS and a hard, synthy remix of I TRY. For SEARCHING they didn't stray too far from the original masterpiece. They added a much more big room tribal feel with a fantastic drum pattern and subdued pads and key stabs. It works - Javith should be proud of their efforts.
Another Star 69 veteran, Ohzee & da Butcha, take on the second remix. They serve up a more dreamy, progressive sound still retaining an edgy tribal feel. A little more laid-back and not so in-your-face as the other mixes, it's a great alternative.
Javith and Ohzee & da Butcha had their hands full with this one. Both teams can go home happy though. One of the reasons why the tracks work is because of the powerful vocal delievery from Maya. She's the real star here and should be commended for her talent. We should be so lucky to have more dance music this wonderful.
