Peter Rauhofer - Armani Exchange Volume 3: Higher

One word can describe this complilation: "classic." That's the vibe this CD produces, and without relying on a tracklisting full of over-used, over-played hits. Classic house with a laid-back, happy vibe. It's been a while since I've heard a mixed CD so uplifting.

This was the third installment in Armani Exchange's mixed CD series and they brought in a big name for the project. Peter Rauhofer delivers the goods once again but with a much different approach than he's used on his Live at the Roxy series. I'm assuming Mr. Rauhofer went for something a little softer to the ears knowing that this was going to be played in Armani Exchange stores all over the U.S. Whatever the reason, it works brilliantly.

Murk's latest single, Time kicks us off with Peter's own French House Mix followed up with Break 4 Love. Very filtered and very funky. Fellow Star 69 tracks make an appearance as well: Jahkey B. featuring Satta with the wonderfully addictive Heart Attack, a very different take on I Try with a killer bassline, and Offer Nissim featuring Maya with That's The Way I Like It. Rounding out the mix is a classic by Mr. Fingers, Can You Feel It, and Madonna's Nothing Fails.

Compared to the often dark, progressive releases that have become the norm with circuit DJs and the like lately, this is a great breather. It goes past the dancefloor and translates perfectly for your car cd player or at the gym; a definate must-have for any house music enthusiast.
